Kenneth J. Hall directs Lynn Lowry and David Lee Brown.
A FEW WORDS FROM THE DIRECTOR

Having worked on features for some time, it was not a natural choice for me to make a short film. However, the creative urge became too strong to resist and I'd noticed other director friends doing shorts when they were between projects.

Knowing my normal tendency to take a simple idea and expand it into something complex, I put some heavy restrictions on myself. First and foremost, it had to be shot in one day (or night, in this case). It also had to have a single location and a small cast. With these boundaries in place, I came up with my story.

I had never done a true thriller in the tradition of Hitchcock. As a teenager, I remember watching him interviewed on PBS. It was my first exposure to some of the basic principles of cinema and the closest I ever came to attending film school. What better teacher to have than the Master of Suspense!

Rape is a subject that is almost taboo in films these days and certainly not to be taken lightly. For this reason, I thought it would be an interesting challenge to depict it in a way that would be frightening and not exploitative. At the same time, I threw in a twist, showing that what is horrific in one light can be completely different in another.

Something I avoided was casting a woman who was in her 20s or early 30s, which is the way all these movies have gone. I wanted to show a character over 40 could still have a sex life. Lynn Lowry is not only attractive and talented, but her previous credits in this genre elevates the entire production.

The film was shot on St. Patrick's Day of 2007. After filming, post took a frustratingly long time because I had to work around people's schedules while doing other things myself. It's very different from from feature films. It's a relief to finally have it finished.
