For the past year, we have been supporters of the LA Indie Film Group, which promotes networking among filmmakers in the Los Angeles area. Through them, we have met many diverse, talented individuals ranging from seasoned pros to enthusiastic beginners.
The group is also associated with the Had To Be Made Film Festival, which sponsors the Filmmakers Program at the annual Video Software Dealers Association (VSDA) show, held this year at the Bellagio Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip. LAIFG founder and president Dan Martone was asked to speak on a panel called "Getting Your Film Out There: From Festival to Distribution." He, in turn, invited BV's Kenneth J. Hall to participate, along with directors Brian Avenet-Bradley, Scott Rudolph, and Brian Felsen, and others. |

In addition to the panel, the show offerend an opportunity for filmmakers to meet with domestic and foreign distribution companies as well as promote their new releases. With the DVD release of THE HALWAY HOUSE less than a month away, we were able to introduce our movie to many owners of independent "mom and pop" video stores, the people who offer an alternative to the major rental chains.

Of course, no trip to Vegas is all business. The opening night party featured a live performance by Tony Orlando and Dawn. Later in the show, our old friend, Fangoria editor Tony Timpone, received a lifetime achievement award for his contribution to the horror genre. Congratulations, Tony and many thanks to the LAIFG, the VSDA, the Filmmakers Program, and the Had To Be Made Film Festival for having us there.
